Hi. You’ve found the personal site of Joseph S. DeAngelis. I’m a Chicago-based urban planner and researcher specializing in resiliency, recovery, and hazards planning. I received my planning degree from CUNY-Hunter College with a concentration in sustainability and the environment. I’m primarily interested in how cities can adapt to a changing climate and the impact of new technologies on the built urban form.
I worked at the New York City Mayor’s Office from 2008 to 2009, the National Park Service from 2010 to 2014, and as a Flood Resiliency Planner with the NYC Department of City Planning from 2014-2016. In March 2016 I moved to Chicago to begin working as a Research Associate with the American Planning Association’s Hazards Planning Center.
